Io sono il teatro is a trip in memory of the artistic and human experience of the great actor, director and playwright, Arnoldo Foa. The Master narrates himself. While sitting on his armchair of his own house, he watches on TV all his theater works and comments upon it, with his usual enthusiasm between irony, poetry and social commitment. A trip that tells through images also all the Italian theater, of which Foà was and is the true soul. The Master makes us sit in the front row in front of his stage and reveals to us anecdotes and memories related to the performances brought on stage: from Pirandello to Baricco. Not only unreleased video contributions of the performances, but also his famous poetry readings, from Dante to Neruda. Among the unreleased images there is also his return to Ferrara for a tribute bestowed to him. It is right in the Emilian town that Foà was born in 1916 from a family of Jewish origin. An exciting story that presents the young Arnoldo moving to Rome, where he attended for some time the Experimental Film Center. Forced to leave the Centre in 1938 following the promulgation of the racial laws, for several years he worked as an actor under an assumed name and only at the end of the War will become Arnoldo Foà, one of the protagonists of the Italian twentieth century Theatre. A great life and performing story of a man who was able to be physical continuity between stage and life.
