This year marks a double anniversary for the European Film Festival (8th – 13th April 2019) directed by Alberto La Monica. The 20th edition of a festival that keeps growing in terms of both audience and critical success, and 10 years of the Mario Verdone Award, whose 12 filmmakers in competition this year are announced below.
 
Pietro Belfiore, Davide Bonacina, Andrea Fadenti, Andrea Mazzarella, Davide Rossi with Si muore tutti Democristiani; Alessandro Capitani with In viaggio con Adele; Ciro D’Emilio with Un giorno all’improvviso; Damiano and Fabio D’Innocenzo with La terra dell’abbastanza; Margherita Ferri with Zen sul ghiaccio sottile; Letizia Lamartire with Saremo giovani e bellissimi; Matteo Martinez with Tonno spiaggiato; Francesca Mazzoleni with Succede; Daniele Misischia with The End? L’inferno fuori; Fulvio Risuleo with Guarda in alto, Antonio Pisu with Nobili bugie; Emanuele Scaringi with La profezia dell’Armadillo, are the authors of the 12 films competing in the 10th edition of the Mario Verdone Award, which will be awarded by Carlo, Luca and Silvia Verdone during the Festival.
The Award, dedicated to the memory of Mario Verdone and established ten years ago by the European Film Festival in collaboration with the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Experimental Film Centre) and the National Union of Italian Film Journalists (SNGCI) and in agreement with the Verdone family, addresses young Italian filmmakers who have particularly stood out in the latest film season for the their debut films.
