SYNOPSIS

It’s the tale of two teens abused and damaged by life, who together try to regain their lost innocence. Sixteen year old Anna is on the run, escaping from a violent event that traumatized her. Because of what happened to her she has lost her voice. On the road she is rescued from a dangerous situation by Basim, a sixteen year old illegal migrant from Ivory Coast. Together they embark on a perilous journey through the deserted lands, woods, villages and breathtaking landscapes of Sardinia. Anna is pursued by Manfredi, the migrant trafficker her father used to work for. Anna and Basim only have each other in the world. Their love becomes their unique strength and their lives become a dark-tale in a world which is all too real. Together they become a single element: a Twin Flower.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

“Using reality as a starting point to tell a story. Building on the truth to create my characters. Talking about innocence, its loss, and its difficult recovery. I wanted to tell the story of a desperate love between two people who are so different from each other but share the same destiny. The young people I cast for the film are “real”. Kallil Khone arrived on a boat from Libya just a few months before we started filming. He had escaped on foot from Ivory Coast and arrived in Libya, from where he had embarked for Italy on board one of the many boats that often don’t make it to their destination. He wanted to be an actor. It was his one dream. I watched him moving and acting during the audition. He has a gift, a rough talent. A look that carries with it a horror we can’t even imagine. Kallil is a living example of a memorable story.”
