Carmen, a devout Catholic woman from Malaga, is about to be chosen leader of her local religious guild. But it all goes up in smoke when her biggest rival is chosen: Ignacio, a ridiculous, arrogant man who is also hell-bent on demoting her from her post. After an unfortunate “accident”, Ignacio is left unconscious in the bathroom and Carmen is forced to keep him hidden in her home all the while she receives a series of unexpected visitors. What at first seems like a terrible predicament could turn into Carmen’s chance to fulfill her dream.

“(…) Mi Querida Cofradía speaks about the relationship among women as if it were about a family. The relationship existing between Carmen, Beatriz, Juana and Maria, but also the link that is created with the Mantillas de la Hermandad (Shawls of the Brotherhood) group. And just like any other family, our characters trust each other so much that they constantly bother each other, but also support each other no matter what happens. Mi Querida Cofradía is a story of contrasts and that humor lies there. Because Easter and everything it represents refers to passion, death, mourning, devotion… a façade of great drama below which we discover the people who define it; the life and everyday, costumbrist,  familiar problems of our protagonist and the women who surround her. And that mix, that contrast that is created, is what gives meaning to the comedy, to the way of bringing this world to the spectator that fascinates me and that Mi Querida Cofradía captures.”
