Maicol is a 8-years-old child. He lives with his father Valerio and his mother Giusy in Trullo, a popular district in Rome. Both his parents are very young. He shares a strong bond with his father. They spend a lot of time together, playing with PlayStation and having fun with some friends. Maicol receives some money to buy his favorite team’s shirt as a present for successfully completing the school year. This event and its consequences will call into question and change the relationship between the child and his father.

Greta is forced to attend the 25th wedding anniversary of a couple of family friends with her mother Antonella, with whom she has a conflicted relationship. This is the first time that her mother appears in public without her husband after the separation. Two boys compete in basketball on the court of a reformatory: Simone has fun and tries to involve Valerio, who is in the dumps. He tells him a fantastic story: he says he went to the beach the previous evening and that he fought a “bull fish”. Valerio smiles and, curious, asks his friend some questions. After free time, the two are forced to return indoors. Once back in the cell, however, Simone will find a way to show Valerio the sea.

Naples, 1808. Giuseppe Bonaparte is King of Naples and Teresa, a promising painter, has to portray him in the guise of an emperor, crowned as Napoleon. The two remain alone in a room of the Royal Palace: the King is very drunk and visibly uncomfortable dealing with Teresa; he tries in every way to hinder the work and to exercise the envied power that his brother has over him, over the young woman. She is defenseless but, nevertheless, able to understand him better than he understands himself.

A late autumn day, the yellow glow of a tram and the winding of the streets of the Lombard metropolis in the background. The protagonist is a modern Cinderella who loses her shoe, without a happy ending. An interlude of hope, like a deep breath in an apnea of domestic violence, which in a moment leads us to confuse the prince and the executioner.

Giorgio receives an unexpected visit during the night: it is Soo-yun, his taekwondo student, who tells him that she would not show up to fight the next day. The two will end up spending a sleepless night trying to understand if the girl’s fears are founded or if they’re just illusions. With the feeling of “Jeong” that binds Soo-yun’s grandfather and Giorgio’s Master, and in turn Giorgio and Soo-yun!

In this film, food and kimchi play the most important role. Kimchi and love come together to create a unique and unrepeatable union that only life stories can tell. Food, and specifically the preparation of kimchi, as a cure to help regain the balance of life.

Institutional film made for Fondaco dei Tedeschi – Two visitors of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi gallery are attracted by the flapping of a butterfly’s wings: they follow it through the floors and products until they arrive on the terrace of the building. Then, a wonderful sunset over Venice strikes them, accompanied by a multitude of butterflies in flight.

Rebecca, Saraswati, Sarah, Camilla, Chiara, Giulia, Juma, Micheli and Iara live in a small villa in the province of Milan. Their day is marked by a precise rhythm: wake up, breakfast, room tidying-up, workshops, lunch, courses, sessions with psychologists and psychotherapists, administration of treatments for some, evening school for many, dinner and bed. The workshops and courses help them regain confidence in themselves, so as to begin a path of recovery from the bordeline disorder that they all have in common. This short film is one of the graduation films made in the “Audiovisual Reportage” course of the Abruzzo headquarters of the Experimental Center of Cinematography of the year 2020/2021.

“I’m trying” is the phrase that goes with users who enter the offices of the Employment Center in L’Aquila. They are looking for a job, they try to change their lives, each of them with their own competence and ability. Different testimonies show up in front of the office workers, each with a possible future in mind. This short film is the result of the directing workshop carried out by Agostino Ferrente and Giovanni Piperno, together with the second year students of the “Audiovisual Reportage” course of the Abruzzo headquarters of the Experimental Center of Cinematography, and was created thanks to the collaboration of L’Aquila Employment Center.

IL SILENZIO DEL SUDORE

Caltanissetta, 3 June 2020. It’s 10:14 pm and five people wander around Via San Cataldo, in the market area of Strata a’Foglia. Two of them have a bottle, a screwdriver and a knife. At number 10 lives Adnan Siddique, a 32-year-old native of Lahore, an engineer in the textile sector. Adnan is killed shortly thereafter with those rudimentary weapons. The cause of this attack is the sense of justice that, in the preceding months, induced him to help his compatriots to file a complaint because they were victims of illegal hiring and exploitation in agriculture. This short film is one of the graduation works of the “Audiovisual Reportage” course of the Abruzzo headquarters of the Experimental Center of Cinematography of the year 2020/2021.
