synopsis

Alberto, a disillusioned young director, is convinced that cinema has nothing left to offer him. Yet it is precisely in giving up on his dream that he discovers its deeper meaning. After years spent in Rome hoping to make a film—amid uncertain projects and producers who perpetually disappear—Alberto, nearing thirty, decides to return to his hometown. Life as an aspiring artist has proved lonelier than expected, and provincial life, with its slow pace and familiar faces, seems to offer him an unexpected refuge. Among old friends, new acquaintances, and a few moments of peace, he rediscovers the tranquility he had once possessed. But it does not take long for his doubts to resurface in the form of shelved desires along with the never-ending question that torments him: what should he really do with his life?
