A television special based on the TV series, designed to introduce young children to classical music. Pipì the raccoon, Pupù the little bird and Rosmarina the bunny are transported into the world of opera, where they stage Mozart’s The Magic Flute, remaining true tothe original structure while reimagining it in a more playful, child-friendly version.
“Pipì, Pupù, Rosmarina, and The Magic Flute (2013) was the first step in a project born from the collaboration between d’Alò and Vincenzo Cerami. Following the twenty-two-minute The Magic Flute, three more colorful adaptations were already in the works: TheItalian Girl in Algiers, Don Quixote, and The Nutcracker. The rest, as they say, is history. United by a simple yet charming narrative framework, the three specials, dedicated to the works of Rossini, Massenet, and Tchaikovsky, were ultimately turned into a feature film—an ambitious undertaking of considerable significance within the current Italian film industry (...) and one with a distinctly nostalgic aftertaste.”
