SYNOPSIS
There is an imaginary path that a seed takes to become food. Everything that happens along this path can determine the fate of the Earth and the living beings that inhabit it. In a region tormented by environmental degradation and the brutality connected to agro-industry, a group of associations and farmers establish new models of modern agriculture in defence of food sovereignty. The exchange of seeds, the fertility of land, the protection of the landscape, the defence of workers’ rights and mutualism define a new system of values on which to base the production of healthy and fair food.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

“Come semi al vento is a narrative characterized by an ongoing dialogue between the frenzy of the agricultural work and the quiet of the natural landscape, but it’s not meant to talk about a fairy-tale and romantic return to the land, but rather to show the difficulties faced by the farming world, which is also frustrated by very penalising environmental and socio-economic conditions. Such conditions are those of Southern Italy, of the “outskirts” of Italy. The protagonists of the film live off the land while fully respecting it, proposing an “upstream” vision of man which takes into account the huge impact that human activities have had on the ecosystem in modern times.”
