Ciro’s body is sinking in the dark waters of the Gulf of Naples. As he plunges lower and lower, memories emerge. Sounds muffled by the water blend with screams of fleeing people. It’s 1980, the earth is shaking, buildings are falling down, but the cry of a baby, still alive, can be heard from beneath the rubble. Ten years later, that baby has grown into a young boy, a son of nobody, who tries to survive as he can on the streets of Naples. Vivid memories of a criminal upbringing that made him who he is now: Ciro Di Marzio, the Immortal.

After graduating at the Paolo Grassi School of Dramatic Arts, he began his acting career in theatre, under the direction of Andrea Renzi in shows such as Solita formula (2006), Macbeth (2006), La trilogia della villeggiatura (2007). He then set up La Piccola Società, a theatre and film production company. He made his film debut with Bets & Wedding Dresses (2009). In 2010 he starred in A Quiet Life (2010) by Claudio Cupellini. After soaring to fame with Gomorrah – The Series, he took on the lead role in Un posto sicuro, and starred in Perez., The Beginners, Ugly Nasty People (2017) and Drive Me Home. After his first directing experience with some episodes of the fourth season of Gomorrah, he directed The Immortal, in which he reprises the role that made him famous.
